Dr. Clifford Taylor
Dr. Clifford Taylor is distinguished by his expertise in providing medication treatments, supplements, and psychotherapy during the course of treating a broad range of behavioral and emotional conditions including; resistant and recurrent major depressive disorders, bipolar disorders, perinatal and postpartum mood disorders, mood disorders associated with medical illness, seasonal mood disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, substance use disorders, disorders of mood associated with eating disorders, acute, chronic, and post-traumatic stress disorders, phase of life and adjustment disorders, traditional and complicated bereavement, personality disorders, attention deficit disorders, post-concussive and cognitive impairment behavioral and emotional disorders, behavioral addictive disorders, and impulse control disorders.
Individual, couple and family psychotherapies provided by Dr. Taylor include: Brief and long term insight oriented, cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-commitment, interpersonal, supportive, and positive psychotherapies, mindfulness-stress reduction therapy, and hypnotherapy. Dr. Taylor also provides psychological education, and utilizes modern motivational interviewing techniques to help individuals reclaim control over their lives.
Dr. Taylor is a board certified psychiatrist with more than 30 years of experience. He is also a full attending psychiatrist at Morristown Medical Center.
Dr. Taylor completed his undergraduate education at Harvard College where he majored in biochemistry, graduated from Harvard Medical School, completed his medical internship at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, and finished his residency in psychiatry at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He then went on to work as a staff psychiatrist on the long-term treatment adolescent unit at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center for one year. He then trained for two additional years at the New Jersey Institute for Brief Psychotherapy to refine his skills as a psychotherapist. He co-authored the book “So You Think You Have Seasonal Affective Disorder”, and received past distinction as a Top Doctor in New Jersey Magazine.
Despite the growing trend of psychiatrist to provide only treatment with medications to their patients, Dr. Taylor has remained dedicated to maintaining and utilizing skills, drawn from a broad range of psychotherapies in order to offer comprehensive care to his patients. He provides medication treatment to his patients who are already in psychotherapy with other therapists, and also offers second opinion consultations to patients currently in treatment with other doctors, and therapists.
