Some Issues That Parents Face

Children have inborn temperaments, and sometimes special needs that condition the manner in which parents respond to them.

Many parenting styles exist. A sample of styles are described below:

  • When parents are both loving, and firm in their discipline, they are deemed authoritative.
  • When parents are both loving, and too lax in their discipline, they are deemed permissive.
  • When parents are both hostile, and firm in their discipline, they are deemed authoritarian.
  • When parents are both hostile, and lax in their discipline, they are defined as unpredictable.
